blank Laurencekirk, situated on the line between Aberdeen and Dundee, has been without a train service since 1968. Aberdeenshire Council has been working with NESTRANS to re-open the station and provide stops there on the Aberdeen to Edinburgh/Glasgow First ScotRail services.

RWA Rail's role in the scheme was the formulation of a timetable which included stops at the re-opened station and to performance model this timetable to determine the impact on the performance of First ScotRail's and other operators' services.

Approval for the new station has been given, with construction underway. It is due to be opened by winter 2007/8.
